To The Coast

Some people go to the beach, the shore, seashore, shoreline and/or just ocean. When Little Al kept telling me he was going to the coast with or without me I knew what he meant, I just didn’t know if we were ever going to escape our Spring Branch captivity.

For those of you that have never seen an Airstream cry, we’ll let’s just say you have to drop everything and let the little guy’s dream come true. So we cleaned him up and loaded for our first away trip in months…here in Port Aransas through Monday.

OK, Little Al…here we go.

Home for the weekend, you happy now Little Al? Time to go to sleep.

Joanie catching up, still a ways to go to fill out.

Time to wake up, let’s go for a walk.

Don’t drink too much coffee Joanie, it’s gonna make you tinkle.

Tried to tell you!

Day trip to Rockport.

Goose Island, looong pier.

OK but just one.

Joanie El Skinnio

Marco El Tubo

Joanie…”post the picture of the seagulls, it’s cute.”

Marc…”no, it doesn’t translate.”

Joanie…”it does, post it.”

Marc…”I am in charge of my blog and I will absolutely not post.”

Marc…PLEASE ENJOY THIS POST.

Heading back to Little Al, another day done.

  1. Glad to see you continuing your adventure, in my old stomping grounds no less. When Jim and I were working in Corpus Christi, he had counties going south all the way to Laredo. I had counties going north all the way to Port Lavaca, with parolees in Aransas Pass and Rockport along the way.

My wife and I camped out at Goose Island State Park back in the 1970s. Then, when I was a Boy Scout leader in Austin in the 1990s, we took a scout troop to camp out at Goose Island for a week with; excursions to museums in Corpus Christi, the beach at Aransas Pass, scuba diving at Rockport, and sailing on Corpus Christi Bay. I’m sure those kids, who have to be pushing forty years old now, will always remember that trip.

I have been very curious about the conditions at Goose Island State Park after the hurricane and I’ve been especially interested in whether the pier was rebuilt. Thanks for the photo of the new pier.

    Happy Trails

    1. Thanks for the comments Jerome, I had no idea you knew Jim that long. I thought you had met at the Austin office. Goose Island is a great area and much upgraded from what you probably remembered. We plan to go back and study there with our bikes, plenty of trails to hike and bike. I’d recommend it when you can get away.
