Brett’s First

Brett’s first post and a few random top moments from the trip. Also known as…

It wasn’t Octoberfest…but it was still a great time!

Brett here! While it has been nice to be back in my own bed again, I will admit that I miss the retired life with Joanie and Marco. Even though we were supposed to have spent that time at Octoberfest in Munich, in addition to checking out Portugal, Amsterdam, and a few other countries, we still had the best time together. I think we more than made up for all the eating and drinking that we had planned as well.

There were so many great moments from the trip that it’d be tough to list them all, but I will be adding in a few of my favorite highlights!

Best RV Park
While each of the parks that we stayed at was nice (well, nice enough), my favorite RV park had to be our very first night together at Chantilly Farm Campground and RV Park. This was a last minute find and absolutely kicked off the trip! We spent the evening roasting hotdogs, making s’mores, watching the most gorgeous sunset, and contemplating crashing a wedding.

Honorable mention to Mama Gertie’s, which had the best showers!

Sunset at Chantilly

Most Amazing View
This one is a bit of an easy one, since we only went on one hike during our travels, but Chimney Rock was absolutely amazing! We were originally planning a different hike, but thankfully, Apple Maps had different plans for us. Even though one of the park workers tried to convince us to take the bus to the top, rather than hiking to the top, I am glad that we ignored his warnings. It was a beautiful hike up the mountain…but even I will say that those stairs did really suck.

Honorable mentions to the sunsets at Chantilly Farm & RV Park and the Waterfront Sunset Grill, as well as the #housegoalz of the Biltmore.

Favorite Meal
As I mentioned before, we spent quite a bit of time eating and drinking our way throughout North and South Carolina, so no post would be complete without talking about our best meal. Even though we had amazing seafood, my favorite meal was Chicken & Biscuits with gravy that Joanie and I split at the Old Nags Head Cafe while at the Outer Banks. If you know me, you know that I love a good brunch, especially if biscuits and gravy are involved. Not only was this my favorite meal during the trip, these were the best chicken, biscuits, and gravy that I’ve ever had! I just wish that we would have gotten a picture…

Honorable mentions to…
1. All we could eat shrimp at Fish Heads in OBX
2. Yorktown Pub, where we had at least 5 of our meals
3. Amazing crab dip and broiled oysters at Pearlz in Charleston
4. All of the deliciousness from Duck Donuts
5. Breakfast at Biscuit Head

…like I said, we ate a lot…

Best Moments
As if I would only be able to choose one! Below are a few of my other highlights:

It really was the best time, and I can’t wait for our next trip!
